Flying above Mandalay in hot air Balloon : An unforgettable memory!!!

Septembrer 2013 - Oriental Ballooning


A new company, Oriental Ballooning, will start the 25th of October flying hot air balloon above Mandalay. Oriental Ballooning will soon start flying also above Bagan and then above Inle Lake.
So far, for Bagan and Inle, the flying date is not yet published.

We do not present photograph of the balloons above Mandalay, because the service did not start yet and we have no photo, but as soon as

Oriental Ballooning make a strong start with 6 hot air ballon, two with a small pax number onboard (only 4 pax) and 4 hot air ballon with 8 pax on board.
Balloons are smaller than the one flying currently in Bagan.


Flying time : 45 minutes to one hour, depending on the winds.

Time : Mostly sunrise, you may have sunset flight but it is very uncommon and depend only on the air temperature (cold enought) in the afternoon. Safe to say that all flights will be the morning.

No flying dates: Every year, flights are suspended from 1st April to 1st October (for Bagan as well)

Security (infos provide by the ballon company)

- The balloon has been constructed by the world leader of the hot air balloon. The pilots and technicians are English and the flight certifications is English. The passengers are assured for 2 milions of dollars.
- It is better to wear natural fiber clothes, try to avoid synthetic clothes.
- Pregnant woman can not fly.
- Child below 8 years old can not fly.
- Child below 16 years old can fly only if accompagnied by an adult.
- The bus of the company will pick you up at your hotel between 5h30 and 6h00 (AM)
- The overall experience last 2h30 to 3h00 (balloon preparation, flight, champagne breakfast).
- If the captain has to cancel the flight at the last minute for weather or security reason, your ticket will be refund.
- Any passenger in excess of 125 kg or requires 2 passengers seats in the basket will have to pay two tickets.
