The reclining Buddha of Shwethalyaung at Bago (Myanmar)

Shwethalyaung pagoda at Bago (pegu) Myanmar, Burma

Shwethalyaung pagoda at Bago .
The reclining Buddha of Shwethalyaung is one of the most venerated Bouddhas in Myanmar.
Buddha is represented in a relaxing position(position of the feet) and not, as
traditionally, represented as he was passing away (Parinibbana).
The Shwethalyaung pagoda has been constructed in 994 by king Môn Migadepa II and has not been recovered
until 1880. Bago is not visited enough by the tourists during their stay in Burma,
it is a mistake because a lot of very interesting monument is regrouped on the site of Bago. It is one
destination that must be part of your journey in Myanmar.
