Procedure has been modified and it is (again) possible for everyone to get a visa on arrival BUT ONLY :
- For a fligth starting at Siam Reap to Yangon ONLY with Myanmar Airways International.
- For flight starting
at Guanzhu (China) to Yangon ONLY with Myanmar Airways International.
It is possible ONLY if you fly with Myanmar Airways International AND ONLY for these two cities as departure point.
For any other situation, the previous situations remains, which is NO visa on arrival for the 28 nationalities listed below.
Very important update : Nationals from the 28 following countries CAN NOT get a pre approved visa on arrival in Myanmar whatever the place they are living.
They must ask a visa in a Myanmar Embassy.
Countries : Australia, Banglades, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Servia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United Kingdom, Great Britain, United States of America and Vietnam.
Visa on arrival in Myanmar: -
For who ? : Everyone EXCEPT people from the 28 nationalities listed above (these peoples must apply for a visa in a Myanmar embassy).
Price : 30 USD for a tourist visa (28 days - no extension possible).
 40 USD for a business visa (70 days)
Entrance points for visa on arrival without any advance approval.
Currently, you can get your visa on arrival without advance approval only at Yangon and Mandalay's airport.
You can not get any kind of visa on arrival for ground border crossing. It means that for crossing the border at Tachileck, Muse, Kawthaung,
you must have a traditionnal visa issue in a Myanmar Embassy.
Needed documents - information about the procedure for a visa on arrival without advance approval
- You need to bring 2 ID photograph per person.
- Child below 7 years old do not need to pay for a visa on arrival.
- You will need to fill up a form that is supposed to be distributed on the plane (we will put a copy on line as soon as available).
- Every passenger must show 300 USD or equivalent amount in other currency (not need to change the USD to local currency).
- Every familly must show 600 USD or equivalent amount in other currency.
- You must provide accurate hotel name, adress, booking.
Difference compare to a standard visa on arrival - important information for the visa on arrival WITHOUT advance approval.
- The maximum stay is 28 days. No extension - No Overstay.
- Visa will not be deliver if you are the Government Black List. If you are on the black list, you just have to go back...
- There is no way to know in advance if you are on the Government Black List. Anyway, we strongly advice you that if you are a journalist (political journalist...) writter...
or any job that may be sensitive to the government, to get a normal visa in advance in a Myanmar Embassy. Do not think that if you are on the black list, you may get your visa.
- If you are from an NGO or if a have a diplomatic passport, it is always very difficult to get a visa even in a Myanmar Embassy (1 month delay). We do not at today what will be the policy
for the visa on arrival for NGO or Diplomat, it is probably better to play safe and ask your visa in advance in a Myanmar Embassy.
- You must have a tow way ticket. You can not come with a single way and decide later to buy a return ticket.
- You can get your visa only in Yangon or Mandalay, no other point of entry.
Visa on arrival without advance approval is cheaper and easiest than any other way to get a Myanmar visa. BUT you have to be sure not to be on the black list, you must have a two way ticket and not extension is
possible.
Anyway it will help a lot of people.
