| Choose an hotel in Bagan (Myanmar Burma)

Bagan has a lot of small hotels and motels, and also some
splendid hotels directly on the Irrawaddy river. Be carefull,
because there is also a lot of "very average" hotel
or even bad and for the same price or cheaper you can get
very good motel, guest house.
If you can, pamper yourself
and take a suite along the Irrawaddy river or at a nice 4 stars hotels on site.

2009-2010
Even if the next season looks quiet (at today may 2009), it is always better to book long time if advance for the best hotels, such as Tharabar gate hotel, Sakura hotel or even smaller hotel.
Peak periods are :
- Novembre
- Xmas - New year (very difficult to find a room in 3 stars and 4 stars hotel).
- February.
Hotel in Bagan in march - April - May.
It is very hot to extremely hot in Bagan in April and May, with very often temperature above 40 C° and up to 44 C° or more.
Electricity is very scarce in Bagan, most of the hotels have generators but the small hotels (1, 2 and even 3 stars hotels) do not start the generator during day time, only after 5 or 6 PM.
So it could be very very hot in your room.
For these hot months, it could be a very good idea to put some extra money and to stay at a good 4**** hotel, or an hotel with a real swimming pool.

The hotel@Tharabar gate
Category : real 4 stars hotel.
One of our favorite hotel in Bagan. Perfectly located in Bagan
, integrated in the Bagan architecture (the hotel is in brick
and teak on only one level), the rooms are very spacious,
in teak and marble, very beautiful swimming pool. Rooms are very confortables, Tharabar is a very good, no risk choice in Bagan, just lacking the view of the river (but at night you can not see the river anyway). A very recommandable choice. |

Thanzin Garden
Category : 3 stars hotel..
A little far from Bagan (the hotel is at New Bagan), it is
nevertheless the best hotel of " New Bagan " and
one of the best of Bagan in general. Beautiful room, very
beautiful room for the new wing. swimming pool, garden.
One of our favorite hotels for this category (especially the
deluxe room)

Sakura Thiripyitsaya Hotel
Category : 4 stars.
Localisation : old Bagan on the shore of the Irrawaddy river.
Prefectly located, facing the sunset above the river, the
Sakura is a very good
4 stars hotel with new renovated River
Side suite. Amazing. Deluxe rooms are a little expensive for the quality (need renovation compare to Tharabar Gate), but the overall atmosphere is very charming, very pleasant.

Treasure Hotel at New Bagan
Category : 4 stars hotel.
A totally brand new 4 star hotel located in New Bagan (a little
far), opened in April 2005. Everything you can expect from
a 4 star hotel, nice room and bathroom (marble), big swimming
pool, spa etc....Prices are
very raisonnable price, a little far from Bagan for evening
walk, sometimes service is a little weak.

Bagan Hotel
Category : 4 stars hotel.
Located along the shore of the Irrawaddy river, it is one
of the most charming hotel in Bagan, with a beautiful and
big garden, Bagan style bungalow and a very
relaxing diner
view on the river. Unfortunately management was very very weak in 2007 and 2008. For the new season, the management of the hotel is now made by Royal Kaythamudi group (Taungoo), let's hope it will improve for 2009-2010
