Choose your hotel or Resort at Inle Lake in Myanmar ( Burma)

The main question at Inle it is to decide if you want to stay in a piloti hotel, or on shore. (prices are totally different, atmosphere also).

Weather - climate reminder.

It is cold or very cold at Inle Lake in November, December and January. You can have 5 to 10 C° in the morning and at night. It is really better to keep a warm clothe with you, especially for early morning departure by boat... with the wind it is freezing.
Many hotels do not have heater in their rooms... it is usually very very cold in the room at night.

Sun block cream.

Elevation is 1300 meter and you will spend your day on the lake = sun burn 100% garanty so do not forget a hat and a sun block cream.


Booking - always very difficult from the End of October to the End of February

Like every year now, bookings situation is very difficult at Inle Lake from the end of October to the End of February.
The worst (most difficult) period being November and Xmas New Year.

If you are planning to stay in a famous hotel such as the Inle Princess, try to book 6 or 9 month in advance.
For high and peak seasons, whatever the hotel, it is better to book 4-6 month ahead.

Prices

As last year, hotels have again increase their rooms prices. It starts to be really really expensive, even small 2-3 stars hotels have double or triple their prices.
For a good 4 stars hotels, you are now above 200 USD/ night.
Even smaller and basic hotels are now in the range of 50-100 USD a night.

Golden Island Cottage

Category : 3 stars hotel
Localisation : Middle of Inle Lake
The 2 Golden Island Cottage hotels are managed by the Pao ethnic group. The rooms are more than correct and the ambiance is indeed superb. You are in the middle of the Inle lake, in a bamboo house and you can see the sunset on the lake from your balcony.

Inle Lake View Resort

Inle Princess Resort

Category : 4 stars hotel.
Localisation :East shore of the Inle Lake,
Superb luxury and charming hotel, direct access to the lake from the hotel, very beautiful restaurant directly on the lake and view on the sunset (west view). We recommend to take the rooms with direct view on the lake (the chalet are huge). Service is very friendly, the most charming hotel of the lake. Rooms start to need a little renovation but it is still a very very good place, no doubt.

Pristine Lotus Spa Resort

Category : 4 stars luxe
Localisation : near Khaun Dine hot spring, on the west part of the lac, bottom of the hills.
It is a new (2009) high quality open located on the west side of the lac. The Pristine Lotus Resort is not directly on the shore of the lake, but 200-300 meters away of the closest jetty. You can have a glimpse of the lake, but even if this hotel is very nice, very confortable you can not call it on hotel on the lake.
Rooms (private bungalow) are big, very confortable, with very nice bathroom and well protected from the cold weather in winter. It is a very confortable place to stay, very quiet, but not an hotel on the lac or on the shore (if you are looking for this type of hotel).

La maison Birmane

Category : 3 stars with a lot of charm
Localisation : Nyaung Shwe village.
We wish to see more new hotels like that one. La Maison Birmane is an hotel made of bungalow around a nice green garden. The hotel is charming, in a very quiet quarter, the overall design and style fits very well Myanmar and Inlay Lake style.
Built quality is good, service is good, it is more expensive than the average "moderne" hotel in Nyaung Shwe, but nothing to compare, it is really better and more charming.

View Point - Village de Nyaung SHwe

Category : 3 étoiles
Localisation :Nyaung Shwe village, entrance of the water canal going to the lake.
Former guest house that has been totally renovated and transformed in an hotel, located just behind the excellent "view point" restaurant. You need to cross the small bridge over the water canal to get to the hotel. Rooms are really nice, probably the best hotel in the village. Prices are up also...

Paradise Hotel - Lac Inle

Category : 3 stars hotel
Localisation : Middle of the lake towards Phaung Daw Oo pagoda
Nice hotel. A little to close to the main boat road to the pagoda, so it could be a little noisy in the morning. Rooms are quiet and relatively cheap for an hotel on the lake. A good choice for this price and quality.

Shwe InTha - Lac Inle

Category : 3 stars hotel
Localisation : Middle on the lake
Very nice hotel, more quiet than the Paradise hotel. Close to the pagoda anyway (5 minutes by boat). Rooms are very confortable, wood, bamboo, cooton, balcony, took the Deluxe room if you can.. It is a little far south of the lake (1 hour boat from Nyaung Shwe) and could be a little noisy (close to the main waterway), a good choice anyway but (as other hotels, price per room is up).
